Welcome to Brooklyn's Page
Brooklyn Star Karl is the Captain of Team B-Star. Brooklyn and her team are participating in the Walk to End Epilepsy for the 8th year in a row. Ever since experiencing her first seizures shortly after her third birthday, Brooklyn's family and friends have come together to raise awareness and money for the fight to end epilepsy.
Now 10 years old, Brooklyn's seizures are largely controlled with medication. As Brooklyn matures (she's nearly a pre-teen as she loves to tell her mom!), she is learning to identify her triggers and take action to keep herself safe and healthy. This year she has started showing great responsibility in taking her medication by setting an alarm on her phone and swallowing her pills without assistance.
Brooklyn isn't defined by her seizure disorder. Brooklyn enjoys reading, swimming, and fishing with her dad. She particularly enjoys fishing on those days that she outfishes the guys! Its no secret that 4th grade is a lot harder than 3rd grade but Brooklyn has conquered multiplication and completed her first book report. She likes listening to 21 Pilots (who doesn't?!). Her favorite movie this year was Rock Dog, although she has watched Beauty and the Beast more than a few times! At 5ft tall already, Brooklyn takes great pleasure in threatening to outgrow even the tallest family members very soon. And because some things never change, her favorite food is sushi and her favorite color is purple!
In the coming year, Brooklyn is looking forward to 5th grade, making her second donation of hair to a child in need, and taking her third international trip to a beach in the Caribbean or maybe the Mediterranean.
Brooklyn, along with her family and friends, will be participating in the Walk to End Epilepsy on Sunday, November 5th, 2017 at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena to join in the fight to END EPILEPSY. Please support her efforts by making a donation. Your involvement provides care, advocacy, and education today while investing in research and hope for tomorrow.
Your contribution makes a difference. Thank you!
